Your home or business is serviced through underground cabling and because a new underground cable was required, we will need to follow-up in order to complete the process and provide seamless service.

QWhen can I expect the cable to be buried?
ROn average, it should take less than 7 days for your underground cabling to be buried, although more complex jobs or weather conditions may cause it to take longer. The first step is for Spectrum to contact the appropriate state agency (Diggers Hotline in Wisconsin/ J.U.L.I.E. in Illinois). We are required by law to notify the local Utility Locate Service hotline with our intention of burying a cable. This locate process requires three business days to complete. After this is complete, a Spectrum representative will come to bury the cable. If we were unable to install your new service today, a pre-bury is required and we strive to complete those in no more than 5 business days so that we are able to provide you service at the earliest possible date.

QDo I need to do anything prior to the cable being buried?
RIt is your responsibility to clearly identify your private utilities (sprinkler system, electronic dog fence, etc.) prior to the cable being buried. Spectrum representatives will not be responsible for damage to these utilities which are not marked at the time the cable is buried.

QDo I need to be home for any additional appointments?
RNo, you are not required to be home for any additional appointments as the remaining work will take place entirely outside your home. You will receive a call from Spectrum the day before the crew will arrive to bury the cable.

QI need to mow my lawn, can I move the cable?
RYes. We deliberately leave some slack in the cable so that it can be moved slightly and carefully side-to-side.
However, because the cable will be marked with safety flags, please return it to the original location when complete.

QHow does bad weather impact my cable bury?
RDue to inclement weather, including heavy rain or extreme winter weather, we are unable to bury cables. We are continually monitoring the weather and will complete the work as quickly as possible once conditions permit.
